I run OPIS, a non-profit think-and-do tank dedicated to compassionate governance and the prevention of suffering of all sentient beings. OPIS has had success in advocating for better access to pain relief, including morphine for cancer patients and psychedelics for excruciating cluster headaches. We also advocate for an end to factory farming. Our focus is increasingly on promoting the underlying ethics and policy implications. I'm also the author of two books, including The Tango of Ethics: Intuition, Rationality and the Prevention of Suffering. I'm closely connected to the EA community. I trained as a research molecular biologist before switching to ethics and advocacy.
