Play for Animals is a web-based platform designed to gamify animal advocacy in Chile. Our goal is to make activism more accessible, engaging, and rewarding — empowering users to take meaningful action (sign petitions, send emails, attend events, etc.) and earn points for each action. A public ranking will foster healthy competition and long-term engagement.
We will achieve this by developing a platform that integrates with our ongoing campaigns, such as those against octopus farming, live lobster sales, and caged egg production. We also plan to open the platform to other Chilean organizations working in animal welfare and food system transformation.
Reach over 10,000 registered users within the first 12 months,
Host more than 30 active campaigns,
Directly impact +500,000 animals,
Offer the platform to other Chilean animal advocacy organizations to broaden its reach and collaborative potential.
To achieve this, we will work with a committed developer to build a minimalist, mobile-first platform with gamification features. After development, we will test it with a group of users, officially launch it, and promote it through social media and collaborations with allied organizations.
The $5,000 requested will cover the full custom platform development
Fundación Derecho y Defensa Animal has over 10 years of experience in legal and legislative animal advocacy in Chile. We’ve launched national initiatives like:
Desafío Sin Jaulas, a corporate campaign for cage-free eggs.
Salvemos a los Pulpos, raising awareness about octopus farming.
Aquatic Welfare, pushing for fish welfare in aquaculture law.
We have a committed developer from Playtivist who shares our values and is ready to build the platform in collaboration with our team.
If we fail to build the platform, public engagement with long-term advocacy efforts may remain shallow and inconsistent. The lack of a centralized, motivating tool for collective action limits the scalability of our impact. A failed launch might result from underfunding or delays in development, but even a partial version of the platform could still serve as a hub for coordinated activism.
We already received $1,000 from The Pollination Project to begin prototyping and initial development. With this additional funding, we’ll deliver a fully functional MVP by the end of the year.
