Project summary
We're building an open-source platform that connects early-stage mathematicians with senior researchers across a number of STEM fields. We have already built a platform to verify and digest AI-generated solutions to open math problems. As a proof of concept, we're now working with 3 different research groups of mathematicians to produce high-quality write-ups and expositions of results that Principia's harness has produced. All of the progress, including the final write-up is free to access and publicly visible.
What are this project's goals? How will you achieve them?
We want to give young people a reason to go into math at a time when there are fears of mathematicians being "replaced" by AI. We maintain that human understanding of cutting-edge mathematics is and will continue to be essential in the future. It is a matter of AI safety. Our concrete goals are to:
Build a platform to verify and digest AI-generated breakthroughs in math
Bring top researchers onto the platform and have them create research projects and programs that early-stage mathematicians can apply to join
Provide AI tools to assist researchers with problem solving as well as creating interactive/visual expositions of their work
How will this funding be used?
Funding the core team for the next 12-18 months.
API calls for the harness, subscriptions to frontier labs, AI tooling on the platform. Not just for the purpose of problem solving, but also for creating visual, interactive expositions (manim-based videos, animations, etc.)
Marketing to grow our community and bring top researchers/mathfluencers onto our platform
Who is on your team? What's your track record on similar projects?
Our team currently consists of 4 math/AI students (most of us in our late teens to early 20s). Several of us have published math papers -- back in the day when you still had to use your brain :)
What we all have in common is a deep appreciation of mathematics.
