Tianyi (Alex) is interning at CHAI, and is personally working on progress alignment, or the emulation of human moral progress in frontier AI systems; the motivation is to prevent premature value lock-in from AI — a neglected existential risk. He built ProgressGym, an experimental framework & benchmark for progress alignment, and had previously co-led the writing of AI Alignment: A Comprehensive Survey, an influential review paper especially in Asia.
