I have a multidisciplinary academic background. Prior to my PhD I did a bachelors and masters in Sociology from Jadavpur University in India, following which I was awarded a predoctoral fellowship at IIIT Delhi to work the therapeutic and diagnostic capabilities of social robots for treating autism spectrum disorder in India. In the course of my PhD I have worked on multiple projects, usually focusing the democratizing the space of safety and responsibility of autonomous agents whether embodied or non-embodied. This entails figuring out what could be the shortcoming of current models of ethical evaluation and governance of intelligent agents for societies that are non-western and addressing them using participatory and human centric sociotechnical or technical research. Until now, I have co-authored papers on topics such as value alignment for the Global South and principles for the ethical operation of robotic agents in non-western societies which have appeared in the proceedings of conferences such as ICLR and AIES.
