As mentioned in this proposal, I collaborate with Linh frequently on research (as part of Lida Safety). I work as a Research Manager now, so I would otherwise get fewer opportunities to do research directly. Linh's dataset for the AI control hackathon (a project I also participated in) was impressive. Linh has great research instincts and is hardworking, and I'm enjoying the ongoing SPAR project we are co-mentors for.

Geodesic has an outsized impact on the Cambridge AI safety community, through mentoring many MARS fellows and connections with ERA and Meridian. Their work on pretraining especially is unique and has high impact potential. I believe that supporting their work is a good use of funds.
