Description of subprojects and results, including major changes from the original proposal

Due to the nature of our project, we will not go into specifics regarding its structure or any of the subprojects. In broad terms, since the Manifund application went online, we have published significant EA-aligned Chinese content and organized 10+ in-person and online events, with a typical attendance of 50 people. Our small, organically Chinese, EA-aligned community is starting to take form.

Spending breakdown

All of the funding received from Manifund was used for the payment of salary in support of the above described initiatives.

My partner and I made notes on all of the projects in the EACC initiative, and thought this was one of the more convincing among some really strong competition.

Community building in China is incredibly important, and seems to have been stymied by a single speculative, outdated and honestly mildly insulting post by Ben Todd, which implied that China's EAness is a key that can be unlocked with the right language, rather than a conversation to have. We are much more positive about the prospects of involving China to engage with and even positively evolve EA ideas.

What is your method for managing potential corruption both internally and for the charities donated to, given sensitivity constraints?

Building the Chinese EA Community seems incredibly promising and important. I also trust the organization's local expertise to navigate more contested topics such as animal welfare and get as much out of it as possible,
