In the proposed game, humans and AI compete for survival and control using classic strategy game mechanisms such as tech tree, resource management, diplomatic relations, etc. Inspired by games like Civilization and Pandemic, with a complexity between those two.
The primary goal is to raise awareness about the risk of AGI by creating a (hopefully popular) game. Games, especially free games, have the potential for very wide reach. 3.5 billion people actively play games. Raising awareness this way has the additional benefit of getting people to think deeply about how to survive and maintain control in the age of AGI.
Game design (15%), coding (35%), graphics (35%), music and sound (5%), marketing (10%).
The funding level will determine the complexity and polish of the game.
1 game designer/programmer and 1 artist. We could hire 1-2 additional if fully funded. I create turn based strategy games. I am almost finished with my 2nd game in about 2 years.
The game will be finished in 18 months or less, likely less than 1 year. However, no game is guaranteed to be popular, and the number of players is the best measure for success. This game will be strategically interesting, but it may fail if it's less fun than popular games or due to poor/unlucky marketing. There is an element of luck in virality.
