Realer is a working IoT platform for connecting, monitoring, and remotely controlling devices.
Building a custom IoT product still requires knowledge of software, APIs, authentication, networking, hardware integration, and infrastructure. That makes it difficult for individuals and small teams to turn an idea or early prototype into a working connected device they can eventually bring to market.
I want to simplify Realer’s device-development workflow and integrate AI-assisted guidance to help builders navigate the technical and safety challenges of creating connected devices.
I will prototype AI guidance to help developers work through technical, security, safety, and relevant compliance questions as they create, configure, test, and connect control devices to Realer. At the full funding goal, I aim to turn that prototype into a first usable feature integrated into this workflow.
To ground the guidance in real needs, I will test the existing steps with real device setups, identify where developers encounter difficulties, and use those findings to improve both the workflow and the guidance.
In parallel, I will expand Realer’s cloud infrastructure to support more users and devices and to test the AI guidance.
In the longer term, I want developers to be able to sell the control devices they create to other users through a marketplace on Realer.
The funding would mainly cover three things:
AI-assisted development tools to implement and test the planned improvements;
additional cloud infrastructure for Realer and testing AI guidance;
my development time to improve the control-device workflow and build AI guidance within Realer.
With the minimum funding ($3,000), I would work over three months to refine the existing control-device workflow and build and test an initial prototype of AI guidance within Realer. The budget would allocate $250 per month to AI-assisted development tools, $150 per month to additional cloud infrastructure, and the remaining $1,800 to my development time (about $138 per week).
At the full funding goal ($15,000), I would work more intensively over six months to improve and test the workflow and develop a usable first version of AI guidance integrated into Realer’s control-device workflow. The budget would allocate $500 per month to AI-assisted development tools, $300 per month to additional cloud infrastructure, and the remaining $10,200 to my development time (about $392 per week).
I am the founder and solo developer of Realer.
I have been working on it for more than ten years, long before the current generation of AI development tools existed.
Realer is already online and working. I have continued developing it despite technical and financial constraints, and I am trying to accelerate something that already exists rather than start from an idea on paper.
The main risk is lack of resources. Realer is a large project for one person to build and maintain, and development tools, AI usage, servers and infrastructure all cost money.
A second risk is that making IoT development simple enough for non-specialists may require more iteration than expected.
If I do not reach all the goals in this proposal, the work will not be lost. I will continue developing Realer, but progress will be slower.
I have not raised external investment or grant funding for Realer in the last 12 months. I have been funding the development myself.
