About Me

I am an Assistant Professor of Computer Engineering at Middle East Technical University, Turkey.

Most of my research has been around distributed intelligent systems: vehicular networks, V2X, UAV-assisted systems, IoT, non-terrestrial networks, edge computing, resource allocation, security/privacy, and resilient communications. More recently, I have become interested in what happens when increasingly capable AI systems move from software into systems that can affect the physical world.

A question I keep coming back to is: how do we keep meaningful human control when AI agents start making decisions through robots, drones, vehicles, edge devices, networks, or other cyber-physical systems?

I am especially interested in practical technical work around runtime verification, AI safety evaluations, distributed-agent safety, safe fallback, and independent checks on AI actions before they are executed.

My work has appeared in venues including IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems, IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, IEEE Sensors Journal, IEEE Communications Magazine, IEEE Wireless Communications Letters, Information Fusion, and Internet of Things.

I have also worked on funded research involving AI resource allocation in V2X systems and post-earthquake communication resilience using UAVs and LoRa. At METU, I supervise student research and engineering projects involving AI, computer vision, sensing, communication systems, and edge computing.

I am interested in using my background in networking and cyber-physical systems to contribute to technical AI-safety problems where communication delay, partial observability, distributed control, and physical consequences actually matter.
